As a pastor, I have have been blessed to have spoken with a lot of people that were at different places in what I call their "faith journey."
I feel that all of us are on a journey with our faith. Sometimes we move forward, sometimes backward.
I truly feel in my heart that we don't find God, or experience God, in the same way, the same place, or the same time as others around us. I know of many people that say they found God in church, others that say they first believed while singing along to a song on the radio, while others have professed faith simply by looking at the sun setting in the west.
I suggest that if you are searching for God, you may want to start with reading the Bible. I might suggest reading the Gospel of John or the Letter to the Romans - both can be found in the New Testament. You may also want do some daily devotions. You can buy a book anywhere, or here is a link to a Free Daily Devotional.
My next suggestion is to find somewhere to worship God with people who believe. I don't think that "corporate" worship is required to have faith, but I do think that worshiping with other believers is a wonderful way to help someone grow.
I would then suggest getting involved with volunteer activities or a group or club at a church. You may want to check out our Programs and Group page for some ideas.
Finally I would suggest prayer. Pray to God - ask Him to help you understand better, ask Him to help you see better, ask Him to open your heart to experience a relationship with Him.
Don't be afraid to discuss your questions, concerns, doubts, fears, joys, and more with a pastor, a believer, and with God.
Peace & Blessings,
Pastor Mark
